Nidra Sleep Journey Retreats

A Nidra Sleep Journey retreat provides an opportunity to receive personal guidance by Board-Certified Sleep Specialist David C. Brodner, M.D. through the integrative Sleep Wellness program he created called the Nidra Sleep Journey. Collaboration with a team of expert practitioners of the Eastern healing arts of yoga, meditation, acupuncture, and Traditional Chinese Medicine offers immersion within perfect conditions for the mind to naturally find quiet and the body to reach a healthy restful state.

To personalize your sabbatical David C. Brodner, M.D. spends time getting to know you and your sleep patterns before your arrival, enabling him to design a Nidra Sleep Journey treatment regimen catering specifically to your needs. Each participant receives an individualized plan addressing the particular issues hindering their sleep quality.

The process begins before the retreat with three one-on-one online sessions with Dr. Brodner — he analyzes sleep habits and patterns to identify individual circadian rhythms, inadequate sleep hygiene, and behaviorally-induced sleep deprivation. During the retreat each guest then attends a private session with Dr. Brodner to assess their Sleep Wellness goals and progress.

The Nidra Sleep Journey daily agendas include activities designed to address the Eight Pillars upon which the foundation for Sleep Wellness rests. Our team understands all aspects of health are interconnected so our retreats include vital contributions from meditation guides, Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors, Yoga teachers, acupuncturists, massage therapists, nutritionists, and other complementary health practitioners.

The Nidra Sleep Journey program also conceptualizes ‘food as medicine’ and highlights the nutritional aspects of Sleep Wellness. Three locally-sourced organic meals per day, handcrafted to be rich in ingredients known to promote higher quality sleep, are included with each retreat registration. Customized juice-cleanse programs are also available.

You are invited to attend a 6-day Sleep Enhancement Retreat by the Nidra Sleep Journey while immersing yourself in the most luscious naturescape. Board-Certified Sleep Specialist David C. Brodner, M.D. personally guides each attendee through the integrative Sleep Wellness program he created called the Nidra Sleep Journey.

Guests are immersed within perfect conditions for the mind to naturally find quiet and the body to reach a healthy restful state with daily yoga and mindful practices, handmade locally sourced organic meals, and fun excursions promoting exercise and natural vigor.

The process begins even before your arrival at the tropical oasis that is The Pura Vida Retreat Center. Dr. Brodner has managed thousands of insomniacs over 25 years and understands successful outcomes come only through understanding the individual’s unique sleep problems and needs.

During three one-on-one pre-retreat online meetings Dr. Brodner assesses circadian rhythms, sleep patterns, basal sleep needs, Sleep Diaries, and all issues (anxiety, pain, stress, etc.) leading to sleep difficulties.

This information is integrated into a bespoke regimen in collaboration with a team of expert practitioners of the Eastern healing arts of yoga, meditation, acupuncture, hypnosis, sound immersion, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Sleep Ananda – the Sanskrit word for Bliss – is actualized by calming the mind and balancing the body through an expert combination of these scientifically-proven and ancient techniques.

Sample daily schedule for a Nidra Sleep Journey Retreat

7:00 Start each day with yoga — style TBD 

8:00 – 9:00 Breakfast 

9:00 – 10:00  Sleep Discussion + Q&A 

10:00 – 14:00 Planned excursion involving exercise as a natural healthy sleep aid with an opportunity for a secluded group meditation session. Healthy organic locally-sourced box lunch included. Past examples include:

  • Hiking
  • Boat to private beach
  • Snorkeling 
  • Visit to local sites such as petroglyphs, open markets, waterfalls
  • Temazcal — cleansing sweat-lodge tradition
  • Bonfire and Moon Ceremony on beach 

14:00 – 18:00 Free time — Participants may choose to schedule one of our extra Healing Treatment sessions. Past examples include:
